An Easter Prayer

An Easter Prayer

By Bobbie Schaeperkoetter

God, My God, God of all,
You are King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
You rule and reign over all for all time.
You alone are worthy of praise
and your life, death, and resurrection proclaim the goodness of God
and show the power of your unfailing love.
Merciful, Compassionate, and Forgiving One,
you defeated the power of sin and death.
You alone conquered hell.
There is nothing you wouldn’t do to rescue your beloved ones.
I could never do enough to earn this kind of love
and I don’t have to
because your love is a free gift.
It’s unconditional and unmerited.
It is a sacrificial life laid down down for another
and my humble offering back to you is the same.
All that I am and all that I have is yours.
Use it for your honor and glory.
May it draw others closer to you
and show them the power of your love.
It is my thanksgiving and I give it willingly to you
knowing you are working, even now,
in me and in the world around me.
You are always only ever redeeming.
It is who you are and it is what you do.
I thank you, my God, my Lord, my King, my Savior, and my Friend.

Prayer

Dear Father,

Thank you sounds too small for all you've done.  Yet, we lift our hands in praise and we worship you for who you are and what you've done. Amen.

Scripture Meditation

John 3:16-17
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

Journal Reflection

What can you thank God for today?  What can you worship him for?
